New York Premiere of Suwon Philharmonic Orchestra
the New York premiere of the Suwon Philharmonic Orchestra celebrating both KCSNY¡¯s 30th anniversary
as well as KMF¡¯s 25th anniversary.
Led by the renowned conductor Daejin Kim, also a celebrated pianist and recent Artist of the Year by
the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Suwon Philharmonic Orchestra is one of the leading
orchestras in South Korea. They have had numerous concerts in North America, Europe and Asia where they were
received enthusiastically by local audiences. They have also performed at the 2003 Asia Orchestra Week in Osaka
by the invitation of the Association of Japanese Symphony Orchestras and at the 2004 Eckelshausner Musik Fest in Germany.
Featured concerto artist Sunwook Kim, as the first Asian to ever win the top prize of the prestigious Leeds International
Piano Competition, is also its youngest winner in 40 years, making him one of the most sought-after young pianists today.
He has appeared as a guest artist with many major orchestras such as the London Philharmonic, BBC National Orchestra of Wales,
Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Budapest Festival Orchestra and more.
The program includes Barber¡¯s Music for a scene from Shelley, Op.7, Beethoven¡¯s Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major, Op. 58,
and Tchaikovsky¡¯s Symphony No. 6 in B Minor, Op. 74 Pathetique.
